Order Processing & Production
Once your first payment is received, our engineering team begins preparing stamped, sealed drawings customized to your building size and site conditions. Production typically takes 10-14 weeks from order to ship-ready, depending on building size, customization, and current order volume. We will confirm an estimated timeline with you after your order is placed.
Delivery Areas
The Steel Building Shop delivers pre-engineered steel building kits across Canada. Remote or difficult-to-access locations may require additional lead time or delivery arrangements – we will flag this during your quote if it applies to your site.
Shipping Method & Costs
Building kits ship by flatbed freight directly from our fabrication facility. Freight is included in the listed price for delivery to road-accessible sites in the ten provinces. There are no hidden freight fees added at checkout for those deliveries. Sites outside that area are quoted separately – see below.
Site Access & Delivery Requirements
To receive your delivery without delay, please ensure:
- A clear, level, truck-accessible route to the drop-off point
- At least four feet of clearance on all sides of the unloading area
- Someone present at the scheduled delivery time to receive and inspect the shipment
- Any unloading equipment you may need arranged in advance, as our freight carriers typically perform curbside or ground-level drop-off only
If site access requirements are not met at the time of delivery, a return-trip fee may apply.
Delivery Timelines & Delays
Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees. Weather, custom engineering requirements, and carrier availability can affect timelines. We will let you know as soon as we are aware of any expected delay to your order.
Inspecting Your Delivery
Check all components against your packing list at the time of delivery. Note any visible damage or shortages directly on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, and report it to us within 15 days of delivery so we can resolve it quickly.

Where Freight Is Included
The price you see on a product page covers delivery to any site in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador that a loaded highway flatbed can reach on all-season roads.
Sites We Quote Separately
Freight is not included in the listed price, and is quoted before your order is confirmed, for:
- Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut
- Fly-in communities, and islands without a bridge or ferry route rated for a loaded highway trailer
- Any site a loaded flatbed cannot reach – no all-season road access, insufficient turning room, weight-restricted bridges, or seasonal load restrictions
- Deliveries requiring specialized equipment, permits, pilot vehicles, or off-hours scheduling
If your site falls into one of these, we will give you the freight figure in writing before you pay anything, and you are free to cancel at no cost if you do not want to proceed. Freight is quoted on the delivery address you give us; if that address changes after your order is accepted, freight is re-quoted for the new location.
